Local meeting calls strike
Over 120 workers at a union stop work meeting in Ohakune voted unanimously to call on the Combined Trade Unions to call a national stoppage in order to oppose the Employment Contract Bill. The meeting on
Monday 8 April was one of many called throughout the region to discuss the Employment Contract Bill. Representatives of several different unions were present with the main speaker being Maxine Gray from the New Zealand Clerical Worker's Union.
