Prizes increased in Easter hunt
So far about 30 entries to the Waimarino Easter Hunt have been received and they are all from out of town. Organiser Rowan Eves said no local teams had entered„as of yesterday, though last year about 30 entered. Prize money for the competition has increased by about $800 to $4800 this year, with the most difficult category being the big three which is a prize for the heaviest combined weight of a pig, deer and trout caught by a team. The area for the hunt is New Zealand-wide with the weigh-in at the Ohakune Hotel at 3pm Easter Monday. Other novelty events are planned for the weigh-in including a stag-carrying competition and roaring competition. "Both events are open to anyone, not just hunters," said Mr Eves. "and the prize isn't a hind in season!"
