Gums to be axed
A group of Mangawhero Terrace, Ohakune trees deemed dangerous are destined for the axe. The community board approved the removal of the large gum trees at their meeting last week after hearing that they were storm damaged and now dangerous. Board members were told that it was now council policy to consult community boards before trees were cut down, following public outcry at the felling of a group of trees in Taumarunui.
