Teachers off to bikers' school
Teachers, parents, youth group leaders and a traffic officer will be on their bikes this Saturday at Raetihi School learning about cycle safety. The first of a two-day practical course is to be run by Ministry of Transport officers, with participants giving up their own time for the course which is designed to give them the skills necessary to pass on to young riders. The course will cover equipment, handling skills, riding, local routes and traffic simulations. Raetihi principal Doug McLean, who will be seen push-biking along with local traffic officer Ian Harrison, said the response from this area to the course had been excellent compared to Wanganui, where the MoT began running the courses recentlv.
