Game council elections soon

Hunters and anglers will have the opportunity to vote for the Taranaki Fish and Game Council on 8 April. Those on the roll will include 1990 game licences or 1989/90 fishing licences from one of the five acclimatisation societies that have merged into the Council. They are Wanganui, Hawera, Stratford, Taranaki, and Waimarino. The council is made up of 12 members who will be responsible to the New Zealand Fish and Game Council, who are in turn responsible to the Minister of Conservation. The primary function of the council, which holds office for three years, is to look after the interests of hunters and anglers. Ballot papers are to be sent to all those on the roll, which can be inspected at the offices of the council in Wanganui.
