Waimarino works list drawn up

Waimarino council works put for the consideration of the Ruapehu District Council by the community board were chosen at last Thursday's board meeting, with first on the list being $20,000 worth of Ohakune main street lighting improvements. General manager Cliff Houston told the board the councillors would be under a lot of pressure to see that there was a zero rate increase this year so the unsubsidised works items would probably need to be no more than was budgeted for last year. For the 1990/91 annual plan, the board submitted $121,000 worth of works for consideration and about $60,000 was approved. The works the board included in their latest submission included, in

order of priority: Ohakune street lighting ($20,000), Railway Row widening to through road width ($15,000), Pipiriki street lights ($4200), Tainui Street stormwater (approx $10,000), Grey Street Raetihi footpath ($11,000), kerb and channel Miro Street Ohakune ($16,800), Miro Street Ohakune footpaths ($11,000), Miro Street Ohakune street lights ($3,600), Raetihi Cemetary concrete strips ($2900). The works added up to approximately $80,000, which is $20,000 more than the approved works last year.
