Water fitness arrives
A new physical activity, aquarobics, is coming to the Waimarino community, as part of the Community College activities for the Ruapehu area. Cecelia Roke and Nicki Shaw are' working to introduce aquarobics classes starting this week at the Powderkeg Inn indoor swimming pool. "The exercise alone is beneficial but the weight of the water carried greatly contributes to the rapid toning factor," said Cecelia. The body buoyancy in the pool enables the not-so-fit to reach an exercise level that would not normally be reached out of the water, say the pair, which makes aquarobics perfect for all ages. "Each aquarobics class is guided with safe breathing and posture techniques, co-ordinated with fun, easy to follow
music," said the instructors. The 45-minute classes will be held Wednesday starting at 6pm, and Saturdays starting at 10am. The first class is Saturday 19 January, with a $20 enrollment
fee for the year plus $30 per 12 week term for hire of the pool. The enrollment fee also entitles exercisers to take part in the community college yoga stretch and relax classes also run by Cecelia.
