Geographic changes hands

New Zealand Geographic has new owners, along with its sister publications New Zealand Adventure, New Zealand Skier and Snowsports. Academy Press Publishing Limited took over ownership of the titles as from the beginning of September. The previous owner, Outside Publications Ltd, has ceased to trade. Outside Publications director Richard Davy said the directors had tried to sell the publications at a value which would cover all unsecured creditors but that this had not been possible. The company is now to be wound up. New Zealand Geographic was started in the Waimarino by John Woods, the owner of Ruapehu Publishers which also ran into difficulties with publishing the national quarterly and New Zealand Adventure.
