Army doctors fill the gap
Army doctors will keep the Waiouru civilian practice going until a replacement for Dr Sarad Patel is found. Dr Patel left last Friday. Colonel McGuire said he is advertising for another doctor but said it may take some time to find a replacement. He said the Army's Doctor Carol Nicholson and Dr Anne Campbell will be employed as locums and the Army will take over administration of the civilian surgery in the mean time. The two doctors will fill in for the initial three weeks, until 12 October and by then Col McGuire hopes to make more permanent arrangements with civilian locums. Surgery hours will be l-4.30pm Monday, Tuesday and Friday and 9am to 12 noon Wednesday and Thursday. After hours call arrangements will remain as they are. Civilians should contact the Army hospital in the first instance, said Col McGuire.
