Mayor to meet Railways

A meeting between New Zealand Rail Properties representatives and Ruapehu mayor Garrick Workman was postponed but the parties are hopeful of meeting sometime this month. They hope to come to some agreement over the Ohakune Railway Station and Railway Row properties. Rail Properties are interestcd in giving the council the station building in rcturn for a reduced roading contribution for the subdivision of the Railway Row houses. Earlicr in the discussions the two issues were separate but the Railways property company, which is now separate from New Zealand Railways Corporation, has decided to view the matters together.
