Taupo trout numbers drop

Taupo trout are declining in numbers, according to a recent report from Department of Conservation scientist Martin Cryer. The findings from his three-year study are to be presented at a discussion meeting to be held at 1pm at the Turangi Citizens' Hall. Topics on the agenda for the meeting will include changes to fishery administration, fishery management planning, the angling harvest survey, population data from previous surveys and fish traps and future management and research options. All are welcome. The purpose of the meeting is to encourage feedback from the public on future options.
