Two of same family injured on Turoa Ski Field

An elderly Waikanae man was flown from Turoa Skifields by Phillips Rescue Helicopter on Sunday after developing heart problems, then 30 minutes later the man's 10 year old granddaughter fell six metres from the Movenpick Chairlift. A skifield spokesman said the safety bar had been raised ready for the riders to disembark at the lift's mid station. The condition of both victims was unavailable, but the spokesman said he believed the girl's. injuries were not serious.
