Waiouru's Telethon effort is up and running, through positive sup1port from the Oasis Hotel and its patrons and a successful pool toumament and raffle evenings, Waiouru's fundraising tally is $228.00 Forthcoming events are: Saturday 11 August a senior citizens sports carnival - bowls, pool, darts, cards, at the Waiouru RSA starting 10am. A luncheon is to be served. All over the age of 50 years from Waiouru, Taihape and the Waimarino districts are invited to attend and try to win one of the many spot prizes. Sunday 12 August 12.30pm, a TVNZ team is arriving at the Army Museum to film a 60 second pre-telethon promotional video. Activities/events planned are; a poster/painting display to be judged by senior citizens, a meal to be set out and served by Waiouru youth to se-
nior citizens, and entertainment by our districts cultural groups. All are welcome to attend. In an endeavour to surpass the 1988 fundraising total for this area, Waiouru satellite co-ordinator - Bob Vine(phone 56-478) is asking all active clubs to run some fundraising event/activity. "Please let me know of your event and of support I may be able to help with. Plans are in hand for further August events so please watch out for the next Bulletin Issue," said Mr Vine. Pool results Waimarino 8 ball and snooker club results from 1 August: Pairs winners: Robyn Scarrow and Graeme Irwin in three straight games. Winner of most balls potted: 1st Graeme Irwin, 2nd Russell Munn, 3rd Linda Sattler. Raffle Winner: Don Sattler.
