CRUISING UP THE RIVER

A 5.7 metre (19 foot) cabin cruiser made its way up the Wanganui River during the holidays, causing a few heads to turn and mouths to drop open in surprise. The vessel made it almost to T aumarunui, where it was holed on a rock. Driver John Te Whare said he wanted to give the trip a try despite river levels in recent years keeping such vessels away. The boat was transported back to Wanganui' by road.
