Workman attacks dirt

Ruapehu Mayor Garrick Workman and fellow bashers took to the course with avengeance in the Taumarunui RSA Bashers' Golf Tournament on the weekend. His first shot, while carefully worked out to avoid the hockey stick swing, picked up some real estate and sent it down the fairway, but left the ball at rest. His second swing was more successful and sent the ball far and wide. About 100 non-golfers swiped and sliced their way around the course, with all cards being torn up at the end of the game and the winner chosen by a draw out of the hat.
