Seminar for new councillors

Last Saturday newly elected representatives in the reformed local government system travelled to a meeting in Wanganui for a seminar on the reforms. Waimarino councillors and board members travelled by bus with other Ruapehu District elected representatives to the seminar, which ran all day. Waiouru members also attended. The first official meetings of the new authorities start next week, with the Ruapehu District Council meeting at 3.00pm on Wednesday 8 November at Taumarunui. The Waimarino Community Board meeting on Tuesday 14 November at the Ohakune service delivery centre in Miro Street, starting 7.30pm. The Waiouru board meets in Ohakune, for the first time at least, on Wednesday 15 November, the National Park board meets on Monday 13 November in Taumarunui. All meetings are open to the public.
