Rent halved

A Waiouru Army major whose rent was set at $40 a week by the Tenancy Tribunal is not going to seek an opinion from the High Court.

Major Paul Howard Robinson took his case to the Tenancy Tribunal for consideration when the Defence Department planned to increase his rent from $47.12 per fortnight to $118.27 per fortnight then to $189.42 per fortnight next year. The tribunal said in making its decision that leave should be reserved for the parties to request an opinion from the High Court on questions of law.
