MAKARANUI MAN NOMINATED AS TOP NZ LIZARD LOVER

Makaranui man John Greenwood has been nominated for New Zealand herpetologist of the year for the second time. Last year he was runner up to the man chosen as the country's best "lizard lover" (a herpetologist is someone who studies lizards, skinks and geckos). Mr Greenwood has a collection of New Zealand native reptiles, but most of his work involves capturing the animals in areas about to be cleared and releasing them in reserves and safe areas of bush and scrub.
