COUNCIL TO WORK ON LAKES RESERVE - ALONE

Work on upgrading Lakes Reserve is being undertaken by the Waimarino District Council with the blessing, but no cash, of the Department of Conservation. The original estimate for the work' was $30,000, the council heard recently, but $10,000 has been budgeted for it in this financial year. "DoC is happy for us to do what we want, provided we pay for it," said district Manager John Murrihy.
