"PARANOID" ARMY WANTS WAIOURU RAT CATCHER

The Army is "paranoid" about hygiene and that is why they are looking for a rat catcher for Waiouru camp, not because the camp is overrun by pests. Tenders, which close 28 July, have been called for contractors for controlling pests including mice, rats, cockroaches and silverfish. The Officer Commanding Headquarters Company Major Paul Parsons, who described the Army's attitude to pests, said a contractor had been employed to eliminate pests but now, to get the best deal possible and to satisfy the taxpayer that the Army is getting value for money, tenders for such tasks are sought.
