WHAKAPAPA POPULAR ON QUEEN'S BIRTHDAY

Whakapapa ski field was host to about 1000 sightseers on the Monday of Queen's Birthday Weekend. RAL staff ran the Centennial Chairlift for sightseers and the cafeteria, ski shop and customer services office were open. Although about four centimetres of snow fell on that weekend rain has since washed most of it away. However RAL staff say there is a good base and are hopeful more early snow is on the way.
