JUNCTION STATION PLANS DISCUSSED TONIGHT

Tonight a meeting is being held at the Ohakune Club to hear a presentation from a group who have plans to develop the Ohakune Junction Railway Station. A company called the Wiseman Group were commissioned by the Ruapehu South Business Association to report on the feasibility of developing the station as a tourist facility. The idea followed the abandonment of the station by New Zealand Railways. NZR were initially approached about leasing the building but are now willing to sell it, but they stipulate that rail passenger services such as toilets and a wahine room must be maintained.
