KC dressage trials

The King Country Area Dressage Trials were held at Owhango on January 30.

The Owhango Domain provided an excellent setting with three arenas set up using plants from Orchids and Plants, Taumarunui, adding the finishing touches. The judges, Mrs Barbara Harvey, Mrs Joan Mathison and Mrs Farr were all from the Taranaki area. Many thanks go to them for their judging and also

for the help they gave the riders at the end of the day with the training sessions. Results were: Class 1 - Test Prelim 1:2: 1st, Joy Savage; 2nd, Judy Dixon; 3rd, Caroline Isles; 4th, Paula Taylor. Juniors: Todd Gregory, Roscoe; Kim Berry, Silver Dollar; Rodney McCoubrie, Piccadilly; Teresa Wills, Comet (Reserve). The National Dressage Championships are held with five zone finals in early April. This is to alleviate the expense of travel for riders in the 16 areas. Two judges will travel to each zone and this year the Zone Two competitions will be held in Taumarunui with teams from Waikato, Bay of Plenty, Gisborne, Wairoa and the home team King Country. The 16 teams will compete for the Atchison Trophy, which was last year won by the Wellington - Waiarapa team. This is only the second time it is to be held, so don't miss out on seeing your team compete on April 8 at the Tuhua Domain.
