Divers at National Champs

Local divers competed at the Wanganui Age Group Championships over the weekend. All nine divers performed admirably gaining five 1st placings, five 2nd placings and one 3rd placing. Results: Open Mens, Wayne Te Huia 2nd; Kelly Arohanga 3rd; 15yrs Boys, Wayne Te Huia 2nd; 13yrs Boys, Chris Winters 1st; 12yrs Kelly Arohanga lst; Quin Henare 2nd; lOyrs Girls, Carlo Thompson lst; 9yrs Girls, Jesse Pope 2nd; 8yrs Boys, Steven Hawira lst; Clay Winter 2nd; 8yrs Girls, - Rochelle Te Huia lst. Two of the divers, Kelly Arohanga and Quin Henare, have qualified to attend the National Championships which are being held next week from February 28 - March 4 at the new complex built for the Commonwealth Games in Auckland. Both boys are diving in the 13 & under age group and will be competing in three competitions, the one and three metre springboard and the tower.
