SWIFT WINS ROUND-THE--ISLAND YACHT RACE
One Boat Capsizes Off Western Mokoia A blusterly wind, sweeping the lake from the south, nfiade conditions a little too severe for a number of starters in the Round-the-Island race, staged yesterday by the Rotorua Yacht and Power Bc-at Club. Only five boats crossed the starting line and one of these, Erlene, skippered by I>. McRae, capsized lialf-way round the course, off tbe western point of Mokoia Island. Swift, tbe club's star Idle Along, skippered by P. F. Swift, won the race in 2 hours 32 minutes 55 sec. Swift started on a two-minute handicap. The secc-nd boat in was the Silver Fern, Kandykid (15m.), sailed by A. E. Francis and the Skimmer Barene (scr.), with P. Hunter atv the helm, ( came third. Waikaia (S. Griffiths), I was the fifth starter.
