BOXER WHO FAILED TO REPORT BRIBES
Licence Revoked By Athletic Commission NEW YORK, Feb. !>. The New York State Athletic Commission to-day revoked the licence of ti e middle-weight boxer, Rocky Graziano, for failure to report two oll'ers of a 100,000 dollars' bribe to iose his bout against Cowbov Ruben Shanlc 011 December 27. Graziano later withdrew from the contest, explaining that he had a sore back. Graziano was bound hy the commission's rules to report any bribe offers. The licence ■vC'as revoked after a three-day hearlng by the commission, whieh also ordered the cancellatlon of Grazlano's world title bout with champion Tony Zqle on March 21. Tio commission chairman, Mr. Edward Eagan, read the decision. "The commission finds from the evidence and from your o\«n admission that on three seperate occasions, with suggestions or requests to engage in sham or collusive contests, you never teported these requests or suggestions to. this commission." The third occasion referred_ to an offer of 100,000. dollars to thro-w a fiiffht in May, 1945, with Al Davis, who was murdered in Brooklyn on November 21, 1945. The commission refused Graziano's attorney's request for a 60 or 90 days' stay of proceedings, whereupon the attorney, Mr. Jacob Rosenblum, announced that he would apply under civil laws for a Court order on February 10 to stay the revoeation of the licence.
