Direct Appeal On Behalf of Gruner
The Colonial Office has instructed London solicitors to accept service of proceedings for an appeal to the Privy Council on hehalf of Dav Hruner, who is itnder sentence of leath for terrorist aetivities in Palestine. The appeal is being made in unusual circumstauces. Gruner first agreed and then refused to sign an appeal. Next, his uncle, Franlc Gruner, appealed to the Palestine High Court, alleging procedural irregularities in the trial of Gruner. The High Court refused the application and then refused another appli•ation for leave to appeal to the Privy Couneil on ihe grounds that the Palestine Court had no power in such a matter. Franlc Gruner has now appealed lirect to the Privy Council and the Colonial Office has accepted service of rroeeedings. Franlc Gruner's solicitors have ■•riefed Mr. Franlc Devlin, K.C. The petition is expected to be lodged with the Privy Council to-day. Franlc Gruner's solicitors have cabled the Palestine Commissioner of Prisons, informing hint.of the action talcen in London
