REVISION SOUGHT ON DAIRY PRICE
. WELLINGTON, last night. A decision to write to the Prime Minister, Mr. Fi'aser, immediately to ask for a reopening of the sabject of this season's price and to call together the Dairy Board's Dominion conference as. early as possible in March, was made at a meeting of the Dairy Industrial Council. The Government decision to revoke the second schedule of the Factories' Act has caused widespread unrest within the dairy industry, it is stated. One effect is that dairy factories, although compelled to .work seven days a week during the flush of the season, will have to pay penalty rates for overtime work, even where this work is carried out as part of the employees' 40-hour week. Farm workers and farmers now take the view that they stand alone in New Zealand in having to work at the week-end without receiving overtime pay.
