BRITISH OUTPUT OF COAL INCREASES
Record Spoiled By Late Transport Problems 1 LONDON, January 15. Provisional figures show that coal production in Britain 'during last year was considerably 'better than in 1945. Output in the deep mines totalled over 180,000,000' tons. That was_ nearly 6,000,000 tons above production of 4945. The increase came chiefly in the last four anonths of the year, when output got ibigger nearly every week. In the week before Christmas, it would have broken all records for the past four years if transport difficulties had not hat.dicapped the miners. Even as it was, output that week was just short of 4, 000, '000 tons, t'he highest week's production -for over three years. >■
