Union Activity After Engineers' Demotion
AUCKLAND, Last Night. Union activity is f'ollowing the relegation of the Devonport Steam Ferry Company's engineer to a fireman. The man was demoted after his boat, the ferry steamer Toheroa, struck a wharf, head-on, on January 4. The wharf and the boat were both damaged. Efforts are being made to have the man deinstated in his former position. He has not accepted the worlc as a fireman.
