SEARCH FOR OIL IN NEW GUINEA
NEW YORK, Jan. 13. The Royal Dutck Shell group has arranged for the full-scale exploration of the oil possibilities of Dutch New Guinea. A eontiact has heen awarded an American firm for the construction of two piers and approximately 62 miles of roads, which will give access to drilling areas in the dense jungle country. Advance construction crews are at present assemblipg at Morotai, which will be used as a base for the transhipment of personnel and supplies. Catalina flying-boats will be employed to co-ordinate widely scattered parts of the work, in which about 60 Americans and 800 natives will be engaged.
