THREE KINGS GROUP VISITED
First Europeans to Land On Two Islands } KAIKOHE, last night. An Auckland party has made landings on several of the steep-faced islands of the Three Kings group, which lie nearly 40 miles from the most northernmost point of the North Island. It is believed that two of the landings were the first ever made by Europeans. The party had to compete against a swift-flowing tide and the formidable ocean surges of the Tasman. The journey was made in the yacht Rosemary, and was partly for scientific purposes. Two members of the party landed on Prince's Island, and North-East King. It is believed that no European has ever set foot on these two islands before. Landings were also made on Great King, and the southwest island. No attempt was made to land on West King.
