FLYING TACKLE SAVES YOUTH FROM DEATH
SYDNEY, Dec. 26. A footballer's flying tackle savedJames Joyce, 16, from being burned to death to-day at Wagga. The boy, whose coat, saturated with kerosene, had caught fire, raced rc-und a yard of a Temora store with his coat in flames. In his panic, he evaded those who desired to help him. William Feld, a prominent district footballer, brought Joyce to the ground with a flying tackle. Others quickly subdued the flames, hut Joyce was badly burned on, both arms.^ Joycq was tipping rubbish into an incinerato-r when the flames caught his coat. Rushing desparately for help, he attempted to enter an oil store, which would have been disastrous. It was then, that Field tackled him. The boy is in the district hospital suffering from extensive burns and shock.
