Although all sideshows at the Rotojuui lake front fair were not open yesterday aftornoon, those that were did good trade, and with their "barkers" using lungs to good effect. di-ew the profits in. "It's all for the good cause," shouted one gentleman in charge of i some sort of competition, in between ! bouts of laughter, and "hail fellow ! wel1 met" .expressions. What was tbe : cause he neglected to state specifij cally, but presumably, he meant him- ; st'lf*. ' "Every contestant reeeives a cash prize," was the catch-cry of another stall-holder. A bystander entered the ; spirit of the thing and after paying ■ his shilling tried his luck and won his ! cash prize — one penny. Hocp-la, j dart games, and other devices will ; be well into their swing by to-night, i and the general public may reasonably be assured that a sideshow is as good a way as any other of spending : spare shillings.
