NEW PACIFIC AIR SERVICE PLANNED
LONDON, Dec. 20. Plans for a xxew air serviee across the Pacific were announced in Austx*alia to-day. They were approved by the South Pacific Air Transport Council which adopted draft directives froxn the Governments of the United Kingdom, Australia and New Zealaxxd. The serviee, which will be operated by the British Commonwealth Pacific Airlines, provides for three return trips a fortnight between Australia and North Axnerica. Control of State Lines The Commonwealth Government has decided that in future all airports in the capital cities and those necessary for international air sex*vices will be owned, developed, maintained and controlled by the 'Commonwealth. This will also apply to similar aerodromes approved as stopping places for regulax* donxestic air services. The Prime Minister, Mr. Chifiey, said that the Department of Civil Aviation would make technical officers available to local huthoritics and private owners to advise the requirements of airfields and the suitability of localities.
