CHILD'S APPEAL TO SWISS SANTA CLAUS
A sentimental Basle postman with an eye to national prestige delivered to the lo-cal Red Cross a letter addressed "Saint Nicholas, Father Christmas Fairyland, Switzerland," says Reuter's Basle eorrespondent. It came from Fay Johnson, ag^d 8, of Sheffield. She wrote: "Dear Santa Claus. Please can I have a doll's pram, also a doll's* blanket and pillow. Fqr my brotlier a ntonoplane and a moto-r-car. For mother something nice. For Daddy a nice tie. I hope you can get these things." Fay printed all the requested items in capitals. The snow-clad "fairyland" yielded to Fay's plea and a parcel containing the "things" she wanted will arrive at Sheffield on Christmas • Eve.
