To-day 's Weather Forecast The Government Meteorologist has issued the following weather report and forecast: — Situation : The trough of low pressure crossing the North Island should have moved away to the east by this morning. Forecast for Rotorua to midnight: Variable winds. Weather f air, with scattered showers likely. Temperatures cooler. The maxinuim temperature in the town ,area yesterday was 73.4 degrees. Water Restrictions in Napier Water restrictions to apply to West •Shore,' have 'been imposed in the borough of Napier. Hoses may be used only between 6 p.m. and 8 p.m., and m-ust be 'held in the hand. The weather for the last five days has been very hot. Exodus From Wellington Reports from Wellington say that -30,^00 people will he leaving the city for holidays between next Friday and •Christmas Day. This figure covers bookings only, and does not include those travelling by road. Maunganui Sold The Union Steam Ship Company's vessel Maunganui has been sold to a European buyer, and will leave for Europe in the near future. The Maunganui, formerly a well-known passenger ship, saw service in the first world war, and was a hospital ship in the recent war. 9 Rabbit Poisoning With eight men with dogs and five men engaged in poisoning, mostly using phosphorised pollard, it is estimated that in the past three months more than 80,000 rahhits have been destroyed in the Cenral Hawke's Bay rabhit district. 10,000 Lambs Killed For the first time in its history the Auckland Farmers' Freezing Company's killing docks at Horotiu killed 10,000 lambs on Tuesday. It is not expected that the works can better this figure, but prospects are that this daily figure may be maintained until the end of the season. The lambs are still of better weight and grade than this time last year. Potato Famine Potatoes are still being doled out in shilling lots by Rotorua greengrocers, and there is no likelihood of an early improvement in the situation. A Gisborne message states that offers of up, to £30 a ton, compared with the ceiling price of £14, are being received from all parts of the North Island. "We are unable to meet the position, and we are not going on the black market," said one merchant.
