FIERCE STORM CAUSES DAMAGE AT BRISBANE

SYDNEY, Doceml,m- 18. The cyde of destructive thunder, hail and wind storms which struck Sydney on Saturday moved 011 in a wide arc through the north-west and struck Brishane last night. Two people eollapsed and died as the storm passed over them, and spveral wei'e injured. Five Douglas Dakota transport aircraft which were moored 011 Archerfiekl airport, Brishane, were badly damaged, One was hurled 30 feet into the air by an 89 miles an hour gust, and the others were swept togetlier in a tangled heap. The damage to the planes, which were about to be purchased by Qantas Empire Airways, is estimated at £50,000. Elsewhere in Brishane a house was destroyed and a truck and a b;is were forced into collision. Fierce hailstorms caused great damage to crops and orchards.
