CHILDREN'S DAY
ENJOYABLE DAY SPENT AT GOVERNMENT GROUNDS Ope of the most popular events of the carnival programme and one which as a new feature fully justified its inclqsion, was the children's' sports held on the Government Grounds during Friday morning and afternoon. Even the very cold wind was not sufficient to deter the children and their parents from attendance and shortly after 10 a.m. several hundreds were on the ground. In the morning a number of sports events for children of various ages were decided before a postponement ' was called for lunch, when those children who desired it were provided with luncheon by members of the cdmmittee and willing helpers. _ i The afternoon was occupied with further races, games, lolly scrambles and other novelty events and it is; safe to predict. that in future years! this entertainment will prove one of j the most popular of the town's Christmas celebrations.
