A PIGEON GIVES ITS AID TO THE GAIETY OF NATIONS CREDULOUS DANNEVIRKE

Dannevirke, Friday. A blue Checker pigeon, bearing a rubber clock ring with the initials C.F.C., 230, walked into a local shop this afternoon in an exhausted condition. Attached to its leg was the following message: "Stranded, wireles" broke.- Wire disconnected. Please send help or will perish, Snowed in. Bob." The local police are in doubt whether the message is a genuine one or a hoax, or whether Dannevirke was intended as the destination of the bird Nobody is reported here as missing. The weather has been boisterous for days. There is heavy snow on the Ruahines.
