BURGLARS STEAL OVER £10 FROM PAEROA STATION
-By Telegraph — Cripyrlght).
Aucieland, Thursday. Using a heavy charge of gelignite burglars blew the door off the safe at the Paeroa railway staticn at an early hour this morning, prised open the interior drawers, and stole about £10 in notes and silver. This morning the staff found the office in disoi'der. Apparently the burglars tried all the windows in the station huilding, and, failing to prise them open, broke a pane of glass and opened the window from the inside. The explosion was muffled with a tarpaulin' and half a dozen floor mats. After rifling the safe the thieves prised open the door of the goods shed and broke into several cases of goods stored there, but apparently took nothing. In accordanee with Departmental regulations, the bulk of the holiday takings at the station, amounting to about £60, had been placed in the local bank for safe keeping overnight. Presumably it was in search of this sum that the thieves raided the station.
