SOME MOVING SCENES
AT THE MEMORIAL SERVICE^" Paris, Dec- 27. There were moving scenes at the memorial service at Gare de l'E'st, 600 relatives of the victims being present. Magnificent wreaths from the Government, the Miinister of Marino, and the railway company rested against a black-draped cenotaph, ahove which shone the Flame of Reniembrance. lAs the President and members of the Government entered, th'e hand played the poignarit strains of Beethoven's Funeral Mareh. M. Renaudin, president of the Eastern Railway Company, tremlblingly delivered the funeral oration. His reference to travellers emibarking on a short Christmas Eve journey, all unknowing that it was their longest journey frorn which they would not return, profoundly moved the mourners. The Minister of Public Works, M. Pa-ganon, declared that an impartial enquiry must he made.
