THE KING'S SYMPATHY
MESSAGE TO THE PRESIDENT (Rec. Dec- 28) Rugby, Dec. 27. The following telegram has been addressed by the King to M. le Brun, the President of France: "I am very distressed and shocked to hear that the railway accident at Lagny resulted in such' heavy loss of life and so much grievous suffering. I would ask you to accept, on heh.alf of the French nation, an expression of my heartfelt sympathy at the terrible disaster which cas,t a shadow over the Christmas season."
