CHICAGO MURDER
DR. ALICE WYNEKOOP REPUDIATES HER CONFESSION Chicago, Nov. 27. At the resumption of the murder trial to-day Dr. Alice Wynekoop, through her attorney, repudiated her conf ession that she shot her daughter-in-law. She declared: "The words were put into my mouth by the policeman. I had been without sleep while I was questioned. I did not shoot anyone." A cable message last week stated: "Upon the arrest of Earle Wynekoop (27), and his mother, Dr. Alice Wynekoop (62) to-day, the death of Rheta (23) (the young man's wife and a talented violinist, who was found early in the evening two days ago with a bullet in her heart and naked, save for a blanket wrapped about her on her mother-in-law's operating table) promises to develop into the most bizarre murder this city has known for many years." It was insinuated that a number of other murders had heen undertaken" for the sake of insurances. Dr. Alice Wynekoop allegedly confessed to shooting her daughter-in-law, after placing her under an anaesthetic for the purpose of treating her for a pain in the pelvis. She stated she became panic stricken when she found she could not revive the patient.
