I Berlin, Nov. 27. f At the continuance of the trial of I the five men accused of setting fire | to the Reichstag on February 27, namely, the Dutchman, Van de Lubbe, Herr Torgler (former Com- \ munist deputy) and three Bulgarians — Popoff, Dimitroif and Taneff, Counsellor Heiler, a police speeialist in Communism, opening the "polf itical" section of the proceedings, l produced a mass of docnments inL cluding police reports throughout " Germany intended to prove that Communists were planning an armed rising during the weeks preceding the fire. Included was the report of a meeting at which Torgler presided, after which a secret session was held when an unnamed speaker advocated sub•orning the Reichwehr police by girls using their charms to convert them to Communism, and persuading them to steal weapons. Counsel protested against Heiler presenting the reports as facts. Torgler denied he was present at one of the alleged meetings, of which he had not heard. The court announced that Heiler must in future confine his evidence to docnments which eould be produced in court and checked by witnesses.
