NO RESPONSE

s.a. swimming centre ROTORUA CLUB COMMENTS ON FAILURE TO ANSWER LETTERS MATTER TO BE INVESTIGATED * •*, ?■> The failure of the South Auckland Swimming Centre to answer correspondence and to advise affiliated clubs of the annual 'general meeting was the subject of strong comment at a meeting of the Rotorua Swimming Club executive held on Friday evening. The secretary, Mr. W. S. Henderson, stated that he had written to the centre on two occasions, one of which was over six weeks ago, asking the date of the annual general meeting as the Rotorua C'lub had a number of important remits to place before delegates to the centre. No reply had been received to these communications, or to a number of letters in regard to the visit of the Australian ladies' team to Rotorua. Under the rules of the centre thc Rotorua club was required to secure approval of the dates of carnivals and approval for carnivals on December 13 and 28 had been sought. This approval had not been acknowledged by the centre. With the club committed to heavy expenses in connection with, the visit of the Australian team, the failure of the centre to provide the necessary approval created a serious position for the Rotorua executive. Durin'g discussion on the subject, it was stated that indirecrt advice had been received that the annual general meeting had been called for November 15, but official notification had not been given affiliated clubs. It had then been decided to postpone the meeting for two weeks, the secretary of the centre being instructed to advise all affiliated clubs. Although in these circumstances the second meeting should take place next Wednesday the Rotorua club still had no notification from the centre in re•gard to the matter. At the conclusion of the discussion it was decided to appoint Messrs 'W. L. Richards (president), L. Fisher (club captain), W. S. Henderson (secretary) and L. H. Gresham (treasurer) delegates from the club to attend the meeting next Wednesday evening to inves.tigate the position.
