AMATEUR ATHLETICS
RESULTS OF MEETING HELD BY ROTORUA CLUB The weather was dull, but fine for the continuation of the Rotorua Amateur Athletic and Cycling Club's series of evening sports meetings at the Government Grounds on Friday evening, and there was a satisfactory attendance. Good competition was witnessed in all the events and interest was created by the feat of Herewini in establishing a club record in the javelin event by throwing it 190 i feet 3 inches on a handieap of 52' feet. The results of the v,arious events were as "follows : — High School Handieap, 220yds: H. Steele, 5yds, 1; K. Rae, 20yds, 2; J. Barber, scr, 3. Time, 29 3-5sec. Men's Handieap, 220yds: H. Steele, 8yds, 1; A. Hickey, 10yds, 2; K. Hale scr, 3. Time 29 3-5sec. Two mile handieap. J. Barber, 220 yds, 1; C. Randerson, 220yds, 2. Time llmin 8 2-5sec, Ladies' Handieap, 75yds: B. Cottrell, 3yds, 1; C. Cronin, 7yds, 2; E. Hardie, 3yds, 3-. Time lOsec. Men's Handieap, 100yds: M. Herewini, 9yds, 1; G. Rosser, 11yds, 2. H. Steele, 4yds, 3. Time, 10 4-5sec. Throwing the Javelin: M. Herewini 52ft, 1; J. Christophers, 67ft, 2; G. Rosser, 95ft, 3. Distance, 190ft 3in. Broad Jump: H. Steele, 3ft, 1; K. Hale, 32ft, 2; S. Hickey 31ft, 3. Distance, 21ft lOin. One Mile Cycle Handieap: P. Vaughan, 140yds, 1; Matheson, 130 yds, 2; J. Montague, 150yds, 3. Time 5min 44 3-5sec.
