For some years following this aate deceased was employed by the Rotorua Times and when that journal was incorporated with the Rotorua Chronicle continued his occupation as a journalist until 1930, when he retired. In his earlier days deceased wa£ also a keen athlete and a Rugby referee in Rotorua for some years. He was also an enthusiastic bowler and an exeeutive memher of the Rotorua Bowling Club, occupying the presidency for a term and the secretaryship for about two years until his •failing health necessitated him Telinquishing that position somq months ago. He was also a past grand master of the Masonic Order, a member of th'e Ghurch of England Men's Society and a lay reader o± the Church of England, taking ap aetive part in ■ services at St. Luke s Church. He was also a 'great loyer of music and took part in majiy orchestral recitals held in Rotorua. Of a quiet and kindly disposition, one of the hest qualities of Jeceased | was his honesty of purpose. and the fact that he was never known to speak ill of his friends or fellow citizens. There are niany present residents pf Rotorua who owe theii early education to Mr. Webber and many of his pupils have distin'guish: ed themselves in their professions. In 1891 de.ceased married Wakitoria Rogers, who survives her hushanq, J There is no family. ... '•
