POLICE ORDER DISPERSAL OF ASSEMBLY OF NATIVES

| Wellington, Saturday j A Press Association message received from Apia states that, following the conviction and sentence of eight Mau chiefs for participating in the activities of a seditious organisation, namely, the Mau, a large number of natives journeyed to Apia. The police ordered their dispersal within 24 hours, expiring at 10 a.m. yesterday. Early yesterday morning Faumuina and others met the Administrqtor, with apparently satisfacto.ry results. The crowds are now dispersing from Vaimoso, but a selected committee of the Mau will remain to watch the trial of Mr. O. F. Nelson, which commences on Tuesday next, on a charge arising out of_ the activities of the Mau.
