ROTORUA HOTEL STAFFS HOLD COMBINED FUNCTION. IN RITZ CABARET. 'The first ball of the combined hotel staffs, held in the Ritz Cabaret, on Wednesday night, was undobutedly a marked success and a triumph of organisation. In the ballroomi itself the decorations mainly consisted of multi-col-oured streamers and cherry blossomed itrelliswork, while in the supper room (which was used for the first time) bowls of spring flowers provided adequate floral decoration. fDuring the evening his Whrship the Mayor (Mr. T. Jackson) expressed his appreciation of the generous attitude taken by the staffs of the various hotels in contrihuting taward the success of the function, the proceeds of which are to go toward the Christmas and New Year Carnival. He also praised the committee for the excellent way in 'which they had carried out their various duties. "Unless the co-operation of the public is obtained," continued the Mayor, "the carnival will not be a success, and the proprietors of the hotels are to be thanked for thedr efforts. Prize winners in the 500 tqurnament were: — (Ladies. Mrs. Yates, 1; Mrs. Corbett, 2; Mrs. E. Armer, 3. Gentlemen: Mr. W. Morice, Mr. J. Bimpson, Mrs. W. Fitzgerald. Coinisolation Trophies: M'rs. Spencer and Mrs. Matthews. yM] onte Carlo held during the evening was won by Miss A. Hill and Mr. B. Fairley, and the lucky number supper ticket was won by Mr. Rooke. .
